Rovers players will report back for pre-season training in just over a month with much to decide by then.
The schedule of friendly matches is being finalized, as is the shortlist that the club is expected to publish shortly.
There are several vacancies, including manager, although Tony Mowbray’s replacement is likely to carry the title of head coach, with the club also looking for a sporting director to lead their football operations.
The club have not commented since revealing Mowbray’s departure in a statement last Wednesday, with investigations ongoing.
There have been no updates on the club’s behind-the-scenes team so far, although it is likely to be part of the talks during interviews for the new manager job.
Although Mowbray’s departure was confirmed in a club statement, there was no mention of his longtime assistant Mark Venus. He was brought to the club in the summer of 2017, following their relegation from the Championship.
Venus’ contract is believed to be separate from Mowbray’s, with her future expected to be clarified in the coming days.
Head of recruitment John Park is expected to leave alongside Mowbray, although he only arrived last summer as a replacement for Stuart Harvey who left for Sunderland.
When Mowbray was appointed in February 2017, he worked alongside the club’s existing staff, with David Lowe, Ben Benson and David Dunn all promoted from their previous Academy roles to form his backroom team. .
While Dunn returned to the Under-23s following relegation from the Championship, before stepping down the following summer, Lowe and Benson retained their respective roles as first-team coach and goalkeeping coach.
Damien Johnson was appointed first-team technical and development coach in 2019, another Academy promotion having previously served as Under-23 manager, and all three remain in place.
Conversations about behind-the-scenes staff should be part of discussions with the new director, but they’re unlikely to have the same scope as when they last looked for direction.
Meanwhile, the postponement of Summer Fest 2022, which was due to be held at Ewood Park, has allowed grounds maintenance work to start earlier than planned.
If the scope of the work will remain the same, the postponement of the music festival which was to be held next week has made it possible to advance the start date.
This will help field staff prepare for the season, which starts a week earlier than usual on July 30.
Rovers have yet to announce any home friendlies, with all four confirmed fixtures taking place away from Ewood Park.
