There is something in the 10th for every Belizean. We all know a lot has been lost, a lot of the glory has faded. This shouldn’t have happened, it’s wrong what happened, and I call on all Belizeans who don’t accept this to give the truth a chance to seep through. If they did, they would understand why past generations expressed themselves so warmly in music, and they would join the march. Erosion, it all started under Price.
Price is an interesting guy. Okay, well, father of the nation and all that, there must be a lot of stories about him. I have read almost everything written about him; I haven’t read Godfrey Smith’s biography yet. I’m a little afraid he’s cracked, and that’s what scares me. I wonder what good can come of a man who has no qualms bidding on the Ashcroft Group.
I am very interested in Price’s relationship with his father, a white British Kriol. We know that Price’s boss, Bob Turton, launched him into politics. We know that Bob Turton’s father, a Briton, abandoned his mother. I can’t find my Bob Turton book, but my memory is that Mr. Bob wasn’t too fond of his father. There’s the story of Price’s disappointing comment about the Queen on parade, and yes, just to complete that story, how close he came to being put in the Penitentiary for it. And lest you forget, he also almost had some time to calm down in the slammer for, of all things, being too friendly to the enemy.
The message that emerges is that Price’s relationship with the British was not the best. There is no doubt that he was pro-American. I’m going to have to go through Assad’s book to find out who was behind the American flag flying in our parade.
Either way, the fact is, Price has been huge in eroding 10th-place glory. There is this statement from him that the 10th battle was a myth. Assad, in his 13 chapters, said the PUP had renamed the 10th, calling it “National Day”, but Price only “challenged” the myth. Shoman said Price did not question “the occurrence of the historic event”, and after we Kriol accused the PUP of discriminating against us, the party backed down from that position.
The “truth” there was that George called the battle a myth, and he did it because mixed-race Belizeans, his mother’s people up north, didn’t feel it. We know Assad and Richard the lawyer, overzealous minions, you know how these guys do, maybe because it makes them macho, ran with the myth story and wala, gudnis grayshos me, the battle didn’t happen right away! That devil, Clinton Canul Luna, who opposes defeating Marcus Canul, well, I’d rather you didn’t read anything he writes on the subject.
This mythical business, it is said that there is nothing new under the sun. What could be the parallel here? Aha, we can start with Diego de Landa and other religious fanatics burning the scrolls of our Mayan ancestors, in an effort to erase their knowledge and history from the face of the earth. The work on our African ancestors enslaved by Europeans was so comprehensive that for a while there we thought our story began with us serving them.
Brothers and sisters, it took more than half a century for the truth crushed on earth to appear. Forget the delicate rest that counts the casualties of war, not the spoils of victory. The only explanation I have for these guys is that they’re rotten atheists. For them, God never parted the waters of the Red Sea, and once, when the Philistines gathered an army to attack an innocent nation, an earthquake did not cause them to reconsider their ugly ambition.
Aha, we have George Price trying to get the Kriols to release their exuberance, so the Mestizos can get more into the fabric.
Looking at the case of the Belizean mestizos to bray the 10, we have to ask ourselves: if there was no JEWEL, if the Spaniards and that Irish devil, Arturo O’Neill, had won, where the refugees from the war castes would they have run? Braa, there would have been no haven here! You’ve heard of jumping out of a frying pan and landing in a frying pan.
Whoa there, the 10th has its flaws, and really, what in this world doesn’t? In a country with many tribes, there is no limit to the things that separate us. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of a good thing. Those mixed-race Belizeans who have been hesitant to celebrate, if they look beyond the Philistines, they will see the true glory of the battle, its place in the lives of all who inhabit the Jewel. Hip Hip Hooray!
Don’t leave it lying around, Kareem
I understand the reasons why the GOB wants to make marijuana an export industry. It is about creating jobs and earning foreign currency. The decision to wait because we are afraid that the pressure will be put on our banking system, well, it is not unjustified. Alright, while we take a break, I think it’s beyond a good idea, it’s imperative for us to expose this hypocrisy towards marijuana by wine and coffee drinking Belizeans.
It’s so absurd to condemn weed as a gateway drug. You go to every village in our country and you will find many middle-aged and old people who smoked a little weed when they were younger and just walked away. Many of them don’t even drink rum. I don’t know what weed is supposed to be a gateway to, but all of us with the capacity to be criminals, I would say that wine is the precursor to rum. My proof is that once I drank some wine. Oh, before I drank wine, I made coffee, and before that I drank cocoa, and before that I drank my mother’s milk.
The horror is that people who smoke a little weed expose themselves to poisoning by unscrupulous dealers who want to expand their business, or who are just sadistic. If our leaders leave the status of the grass as it is, then they are indifferent. How can you leave your brother to this kind of exposure? When it was pointed out to prohibitionist criminals that people were being exposed to dangerously adulterated alcohol because of the law, these callous beasts said hooray, death and blindness are good deterrents.
The three main prerequisites for teachers
The first requirement for a teacher is subject knowledge. It goes without saying that you cannot teach what you do not know. The second requirement is not teaching skills. Yes, it is important to know how to impart knowledge, there is a technique there, but I want Francis and Dr. Zab to know that it is only in the third slot. The second requirement is the leadership package.
From the age of five until the end of their secondary education, teachers will be among the most important people in the lives of children and young people. We better make sure these teachers have the ability and are sound, the kind of role models we want for our young people.
Bah, I’m going to have to take a break here, so I can talk about what, hair problem? Ai, the state I’d be in if this school hair thing consumed me would be the definition of trouble. Schools should have the right to make a hair rule, or not to make a hair rule. Children and young people go to school to learn the prescribed lessons, not to smooth or honor the religion of their parents. But nothing is bad. No hair rules in school is big news for barbers who can make haircuts art.
